The Republic of Armenia and Karen Demirchyan Yerevan Metro Company CJSC (Yerevan Metro Company) intend to use the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the "EBRD" or the "Bank"), a loan from European Investment Bank (the "EIB") and a grant from the EU Neighbourhood Investment Facility (the "NIF") towards the cost of the Yerevan Metro Rehabilitation Project (the Project). The purpose of the Project is to address immediate rehabilitation needs on the metro system and consists of the procurement of various goods, works and services. The proposed investment programme, which has a total estimated cost of EUR 15 million, will likely require the procurement of the following goods, works and services: • Backhoe loader and tipper truck (Supply of Goods) • Modernisation of metro cars (Supply and Installation) • Timber sleepers, timber bearers, stock & switch rails, frogs, contact rail protection (Supply of Goods) • Timber sleepers, timber bearers, stock & switch rails, frogs, contact rail protection (Works Installation) • Small tools for track maintenance (Supply of Goods) Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2012. Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank, EIB and NIF will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan, EIB loan or NIF grant will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
